This artwork started when I picked up a filmy scarf on a secondhand stall that had the most gorgeous blues in it. I just had to have it. It cost me a whole MAvirtualgallery and I was delighted with my purchase. But I didn't want to wear it. Oh no, I had other ideas for it... Collage material😍😍😍 There are bits of that scarf all over this artwork and that's where the name came from ie out of the blues. I had great fun choosing complementary collage items and colours but the whole artwork was built around my MAvirtualgallery scarf!

Originally created for the Year of the Book, I really went to town on this one photographing our bookshelves and individual covers for collage. It also contains a list of 100 books to read before you die and an article from 1912 on the dangers of reading in bed. Of course you can't see any of these specific details now.

Ningaloo XII - "Fragile Coast", mixed media triptych by Chris Marshall, Perth
In this triptych, created from my imagination I have used colours and materials to represent the wild beauty but fragility of the pristine Ningaloo coastline, with the suggestion of life frolicking in the water. The lacework has been repurposed from my late mother’s kitchen curtains!
